US actress Gillian Anderson admits she struggles when it comes to finding love because she never gets to meet any eligible men.
The X-Files
star has been a single woman since splitting from businessman Mark
Griffiths, her partner of six years and father of her two sons Oscar and
Felix, in 2012.Although insisting she is “content” to be on her own, the 47-year-old admits she would love some romance in her life but never gets the chance because she doesn’t cross paths with any potential suitors.
“I don’t feel anything is lacking in my life,” she told The Observer magazine.
“I certainly don’t sit on bar stools, pining. But the fact is I just haven’t met anyone, and I don’t know where people do meet people ... The thing is that there are needs and there are wants. I have a list of needs and I will not compromise about those. But aside from that ... I don’t meet anybody!
“It’s not like I meet people, and they ask me out, and I say no. It’s not even like I meet people and I don’t give them enough attention. I just don’t meet them at all. I’m either on a plane, or on set, or with my children. There have been people in my life who’ve tried to set me up, and if a friend said: ‘I know someone amazing’, I would show up. But here’s the thing: I’ve got three children. It’s a big ask.”
Anderson was married to X-Files assistant art director Clyde Klotz from 1994 to 1997 and they have a daughter, Piper. Following their divorce, the actress wed documentary maker Julian Ozanne in 2004 but they split two years later.
The actress this year reprises her role of FBI Special Agent Dana Scully for a reboot of the hit series The X-Files.
The highly-anticipated miniseries, titled The X-Files Re-Opened, will air in Australia on channel Ten.
